Cruising for a Cure

CRUISING FOR A CURE - COPS FOR CANCER HALF MARATHON

(FORT FRANCES, ON) On Sunday May 4, 2014 officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region will collaborate their efforts in support of OPP Cruising for a Cure - Winnipeg Police Service Half Marathon & Relay. Officers have been training hard and will lace up to run a half marathon (21 kilometers) or relay to help raise awareness and funds in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Every year, the OPP Cruising for a Cure Team grows larger in support of this worthwhile cause. We are proud to report that this year, nearly 80 officers will reach the finish line wearing bright gold shirts proudly displaying the support of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, including eight officers from the Rainy River District (Atikokan and Fort Frances)!

Cancer impacts us all. "As a cancer survivor and a police officer I know how important it is to address our efforts in a team approach. That's why I'm honoured that the OPP is once again partnering with our brothers and sisters of the Winnipeg Police Service and working towards the eradication of this insidious disease.", says Superintendent Ron Van Straalen.

The OPP applauds the efforts of race organizers and invites communities within the North West Region to get creative and stand along side their local police officers to help support the fundraising efforts. All donations with go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.

On November 4th, the Township of Emo in conjunction with the North Western Health Unit is hosting a Family Safety Night.  This is an event that hopes to increase awareness of the various health, safety and community services available in Emo and the Rainy River District.
As a service industry, I would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in the Emo Family Safety Night.  It will take place upstairs at the Emo Arena and run from 3:30-6:00 p.m.  Those who participate will have the opportunity to set up a booth where they can give community members information about the services they offer.
Our hope is that this will be a fun and interactive family event, so the more creative you are with your booth, the better!
If you would like to participate, or would like more information please feel free to email or call me at the below phone number.
